Epi-LASIK

Are you looking for a way to eliminate glasses and contact lenses? Epi-LASIK is the safest laser vision correction procedure that can offer you a new and better lifestyle. Combining the best outcomes of the better known LASIK procedure in which a “flap” is cut in the cornea, causing it to become weakened and coupling them with the maximum preservation of corneal tissue, Epi-LASIK takes the lead in the arena of laser eye surgery.

The good news with Epi-LASIK is that no cuts are made with lasers or blades. This ensures that the essential integrity of your cornea is not tampered with. The outside layer of the cornea is neatly removed with the aid of a separating device which is blunt, and hazards such as progressive corneal thinning have become rare indeed.

With no sharp incisions or openings created in the cornea, even those patients who would have otherwise been excluded from having LASIK because of thin corneas no longer have to be disqualified from having Laser Vision Correction. Other prospective patients, who engage in action-packed vocations or careers like working on the Police force, fire department, or being a martial arts teacher, or participating in contact or raquet sports, also can be considered for Laser Vision Correction.

Additionally, because none of the nerves of the cornea are cut during Epi-LASIK, the normal tearing process is less interfered with, so there is less dry eye produced and for a shorter period of time. After your Epi-LASIK procedure, you will leave Liberty Vision wearing sunglasses, and go home to sleep for 4 to 5 hours during which time the surface cells will begin to re-grow after about one hour of sleep. Full regrowth of the epithelium generally requires 3 days during which time the eye is protected with a "bandage" contact lens which only Dr. Gold deals with.

If you are looking for 20/20 vision, you can expect a higher level of success with custom Epi-LASIK than with other types of laser eye surgery.
