Latisse®
Hypertrichosis describes a condition of excessive hair growth. Latisse® actually causes this condition in the eyelashes. For lush and luxuriant eyelashes that take the breath away, prescription solution Latisse® is your answer, provided that you have no eye pressure problems. If you are under treatment for eye pressure, you may still use Latisse® but only under strict medical supervision.
Latisse® (Bimatoprost: a glaucoma medicine) is applied to the eyelashes every night to encourage and stimulate thicker and fuller eyelashes which are also characteristically darker in hue and longer. The hair follicles are spurred on to accelerated growth, although the exact mechanism is not clearly understood.
The most important first step is to establish your ‘before’ status with a good clinical photo. As you continue to use Latisse®, the changes are monitored with photos. You will be enthralled at the gradual changes that take place, transforming your once arid eyelash landscape into a verdant and blooming one!
Apply the Latisse® solution each night at bedtime, after you have cleaned your face of all cosmetics and creams. Also remove your contact lenses. Place a single drop of Latisse® on the tip of the sterile applicator as it is held horizontally, and draw the applicator along the line of the upper eyelashes at the point where they emerge from the skin of the lid.
Make certain you mop up any extra solution to avoid excessive hair growth on other parts of your skin. Use a different applicator for the other eye to eliminate the risk of contamination. Your Latisse® treatment should be continued daily for four months at the beginning. When your ‘after’ photos truly satisfy, you can gradually turn the volume down to every other night and ultimately to a weekly or fortnightly regime, and maintain an ongoing program of super eyelash care with Latisse®!
